I am proud to have been asked to serve as Chair of this group. I spent thirty years defending my country from threats overseas but never thought I would have to defend our society from those who attack the very cores of freedom and democracy. The more I hear the same people "thank" me for my service go on to insult and denigrate that same service, the more I am convinced changes need to come. I believe that Democrats have better ideas to defend our workers, improve our schools, and provide working hospitals and clinics. I will strive to see these efforts succeed here in Mayes County.

We are committed to finding solutions for real people. Economic empowerment is critical for Mayes County. While jobs are being created, the opportunities of the past are closed to most. Health care in Mayes County is hanging on, but just. Recent changes to funding threaten insurance providers and medical facilities throughout the county. Our young adults struggle with limited access to housing throughout the county. These are things that, while not easy, should be addressed before our quality of life drops further. And education remains an area of concern, with difficulties in funding schools, attracting teachers, and providing successful outcomes for future generations.
